Nuclear Wast from Foreign Countries

I wasn't going to write political blogs. Recent events however; have prompted me to write about something I feel is very important and must NOT be allowed to happen.

Transporting nuclear waste from one country to another is simply WRONG! The people who produced that waste and got the energy benefit from the creation of that waste should be the ones responsible for its proper disposal and storage.

AND THAT DOESN'T MEAN FOISTING IT ONTO SOMEONE ELSE, IN ANOTHER COUNTRY!!!

I am specifically speaking of the Italian waste that Energy Solutions of Utah, wants to bring to the United States of America. The Italians created the waste, and they should be the ones to store it! That waste would have to be put on a boat, cross the Atlantic Ocean, and via the roadways of America, travel hundreds of miles through MOST of the country before getting to Utah. The odds are pretty good that some of the containers will probably be leaking, will fall overboard into the ocean, and once on the roads or railways of America aside from the probable leaks along the way, heaven only knows what could happen.

This isn't a "States Rights" issue. If Utah says "Yes, This is the place to dump your waste", then Utah will in effect usurp the rights of every other state that the nuclear waste has to pass through. That isn't right! Utah would be denying every other state, and ALL Americans of the right to a clean environment.

I am absolutely in favor of States Rights to an extent. However, when one states claims of states rights negates all other states and their rights.....no sir, THAT is NOT the way it should be!

Italy created that nuclear waste, and by god, they should be the ones to store their garbage!!!

Keep foreign garbage, and nuclear waste out of America! Store waste where it was created and where the benefit was received!
